[QLF] "We want to win too!"
says sebastian after qualifying...
Sebastian Vettel - 4th: "I would like to be further forward on tomorrow's grid, but I think that's the most we could have hoped for, so I'm quite happy - especially after not doing many laps this morning. I'm quite confident about tomorrow, as we made a step forward for this morning and then another for qualifying. McLaren look strong and it's hard for the other cars to get close to them. We will see how quick they are in the race tomorrow, but starting in first and second position they have a good chance to win the race. We want to win too though, so we will see. I like this track, it's a bit more difficult for us to be at the top here – but it's a long and hot race tomorrow, so let's see."

08.22: Red Bull considering KERS for Spa
according to autosport...
Red Bull Racing is considering introducing KERS from the Belgian Grand Prix in a bid to boost its world championship ambitions, AUTOSPORT can reveal.

Red Bull's team principal Christian Horner has confirmed to AUTOSPORT that a decision will be made in the next few days about what to do for Spa - where KERS is expected to produce a considerable benefit.

"We continue to evaluate KERS on an ongoing basis," he explained. "Obviously KERS' performance at the last race and probably here are making an obvious benefit, so it is something we have not abandoned for this year.

"We have the system there and are evaluating the system on a race-by-race basis."

08.22: Sebastian to use a new engine for qualifying
after free practice failure...
Red Bull Racing has confirmed Sebastian Vettel will be forced to use a different engine in qualifying for the European Grand Prix after a problem in final practice.

The German driver managed just six laps this morning after a massive failure forced him to stop on track. The incident also caused the session to be red-flagged for over 20 minutes while marshals cleaned the oil left on track.

Red Bull confirmed Vettel had suffered an engine problem that would force the team to use a different one for the rest of the weekend. Drivers are allowed to use eight engines during the season before they are penalised for using more units. Vettel was believed to be using his sixth engine of the season at Valencia.

08.21: Ferrari, McLaren, Toyota and Brawn wanted Seb
according to bbc...
The BBC has claimed that four teams - Ferrari, McLaren, Toyota and Brawn - all made offers to Sebastian Vettel before the German committed to Red Bull.

According to pit-lane reporter Ted Kravtiz, the four teams were willing to reserve a race-seat for Vettel for 2011 before he agreed to extend his deal with Red Bull.

If true, the story would suggest that reports that Ferrari have a binding deal with Fernando Alonso may be premature, that Toyota are still planning a long-term residence in F1 and that, with Rubens Barrichello and Heikki Kovalainen set to be dropped at the end of the season, both McLaren and Brawn were willing to appoint one-year seat-fillers for the 2010 campaign alongside Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button respectively.

08.21: Seb extends contract with Red Bull
there is also an option on him for 2012...
Sebastian Vettel has committed his long term future to Red Bull Racing, after extending his deal with the team until 2012.

The German, who joined the team at the start of this season on a two-year deal, has impressed after taking two wins and is battling with his team-mate Mark Webber and Jenson Button for the world championship.

Vettel's form, and the promise shown by Red Bull, has convinced the two parties to extend their deal further - with his new contract running until 2011. There is also an option on him for 2012.

The Vettel announcement comes a few weeks after Red Bull Racing also extended Webber's deal until the end of next year.

Vettel, who has been supported by Red Bull's young drivers programme since the age of 12, is the youngest winner in F1 history, having taken a shock triumph for Scuderia Toro Rosso in last year's rain-hit Italian Grand Prix.

He entered F1 as a test driver for BMW Sauber and competed in one race for the team, as a stand-in for Robert Kubica at the 2007 United States Grand Prix.

A deal was then agreed to move him across to Scuderia Toro Rosso from that year's Hungarian Grand Prix, and he stayed with the Faenza-based outfit until the end of last season.
