05. 27: Seb to recieve Bandini Award on Sunday
Sebastian Vettel will on Sunday drive his old STR again...
The 21-year-old German moved up from the Faenza based team to its parent outfit Red Bull Racing at the end of last year. But it is for his achievements at the wheel of the Ferrari-powered STR3, including winning the Italian grand prix at Monza, for which he is being honoured with the prestigious Lorenzo Bandini trophy. To mark the occasion in style, Vettel will drive the 12 kilometres along the scenic Via Fireze, from the Faenza factory to Bandini's nearby hometown Brisighella, at the wheel of a Toro Rosso. Vettel will receive the trophy from Bandini's widow in the town square. Source: F1Live

[RACE] "Of course it's disappointing"
sebastian talks about his race retirement...
Sebastian Vettel expressed his disappointment at crashing out of the Monaco Grand Prix while trying to make up time for a poor first stint on the super-soft tyres. Running fourth early on, the Chinese Grand Prix winner held up the pack for 11 laps before finally giving up on the green-walled Bridgestones, having lapped as much as three seconds slower than championship rivals Jenson Button, Rubens Barrichello and also Kimi Raikkonen's third-placed Ferrari. Once onto the prime tyre, Vettel began to push harder in his Red Bull, but six laps later clattered the barrier at Turn 1 while running in 13th position. "Not much to tell, I was braking maybe a little bit too late, locked the rears, lost the car and hit the wall," Vettel told the BBC. "Of course we lost a lot of time already in the first stint, being on the wrong tyres. "We thought that those tyres would work with a short stint anyway. But they didn't." "Of course it is disappointing," he added. "Sometimes this happens and in Monaco you make a little mistake and you have to pay the price." Source: Autosport

[QLF] "Let's see what happens tomorrow"
says seb about his qualifying...
Sebastian Vettel blamed a trundling Kazuki Nakajima for his failure to set a quicker final lap in Q3 after the championship contender only managed to qualify fourth in Monaco. “As I came out of Rascasse, Nakajima was almost stopped on the circuit and, you know, if you want to get everything right here in qualifying you have to have a clear lap,” Vettel said. “That wasn’t the case on the last half of my lap when I was stuck in traffic – when that happens you lose downforce and start to slide, so it’s anything but qualifying! It was a shame today as the car was good and we could have done better – but there are 78 laps to go, so let’s see what happens tomorrow.” Source: ITV

[FPs] "We always want to be on top!"
red bull racing notes...
"We had an engine failure in the morning, which cost us some track time. Things like that are important for the driver, as well as the car, as you need to get into a good rhythm round here. Nonetheless the boys fixed the car, which I think was quite tricky as some of the parts arrived last minute, so it wasn't easy. But, we still managed to complete quite a few laps and get a lot of data -- including a view on the different tyre compounds, so I think we're in decent shape, but of course we always want to be on top!"
