04.30: Sebastian talks about his last two trophees
and jokes about it...
Sebastian Vettel is waiting for a replica of his race winner's trophy from the Chinese Grand Prix. Like with a number of teams on the grid, the German's Red Bull Racing contract states that the team is entitled to keep the original version to showcase at their Milton Keynes base.

The artificial trophy will rekindle great memories for Vettel from less than two weeks ago, although he did infact cut his hand on the original version whilst on the podium after his glorious victory in Shanghai. "At least the team paid for the replica of the cup!" 21-year-old Vettel laughed, who is Formula One's youngest ever race winner having first done so for Toro Rosso at Monza last year.

His win in Shanghai was followed by the runner-up spot in Bahrain last Sunday, although Sebastian experienced the mixed emotion of shocked delight when on the rostrum. "They gave me a trophy which was so small that I believed it must have been a mistake," he told Germany's Auto Motor und Sport. "I wanted it to go further, to Trulli (third place), when I saw that he also got a small trophy!"

04.29: Horners dismisses Seb links with BMW
sebastian with rbr contract for next season...
Christian Horner has dismissed speculation that Sebastian Vettel could be lost to the BMW-Sauber team in less than two years.

The German two-time GP winner, 21, is under contract to Red Bull for both this year and next, but is believed to retain links with BMW.

Vettel made his formula one debut for BMW-Sauber in 2007, leading to suggestions that the Swiss-based team may be able to recall the German once his current contract expires.

But Red Bull team boss Horner categorically denied that BMW retains an "option" on Vettel's services.

"Definitely not," the Briton said in an interview with Germany's Sport Bild.

"They could have had him, they did have an option on Sebastian, the condition being that they give him a race cockpit for the 2008 season. In the middle of 2007 they let him go to the Red Bull family, to Toro Rosso, and they lost their rights to him," Horner explained.

[RUMOURS] Smiles and scorched buttocks in Bahrain
in the press conference after the race...
After crossing the chequered flag first, 29-year-old Button admitted: "I've burned the top of my left buttock on a box - there's an electrical box there."

Vettel, who has named his Red Bull 'Kate's Dirty Sister' because it is even faster and more aggressive than the original RB5 he shunted in Melbourne, leaned over during the post-race press conference and stroked his British rival's shoulder.

Button retorted: "I'll get you stroking it later, Sebastian, don't worry!"

[RACE] "It was a diffcult race," says Seb
red bull racing race notes...
Sebastian Vettel: Very good. A good result and good points, but it was a difficult race. The start was okay, but then suddenly Lewis (Hamilton) was next to me - he must have pressed his special button and got an advantage. At the first corner we were three deep, me in the middle and Jenson (Button) on the outside, so I had to give way and lost two positions. Unfortunately I then got stuck behind Lewis, which caused degradation to the tyres - you start to slide and never really come back from that. It's hard braking here so you need the tyres and rear stability. In the second stint I was just behind Jarno (Trulli), which was a shame as I was on soft tyres and could have gone a bit quicker. In the third stint, it was the other way round and I had to defend against Jarno who was then on the soft tryes. He was very close in my mirrors, but I didn't make any mistakes and we came second! A massive thanks to all the guys for this great result.

[RACE] "Unfortunately I got stuck behind Lewis"
says sebastian after the race...
Sebastian Vettel rued his inability to pass Lewis Hamilton after having to settle for second in the Bahrain Grand Prix.

The Chinese GP winner had the fastest package on track for much of the race, but could not regain the ground lost when he was trapped behind Hamilton's slower McLaren in the first stint.

The world champion had made the most of his KERS to get ahead of Vettel into the first corner.

"The start went quite okay but then I was surprised all of a sudden to see Lewis next to me. When I first looked in the mirrors he was not there, and then I guess he pressed his special button and that gave him a bit of an advantage! We were three [abreast] through the first corner – me in the middle, Jenson (Button) on the outside – so I had to give way and lost two positions in the first lap. Then unfortunately I got stuck behind Lewis."
