[RACE] Seb cuts finger on trophee
anthem for red bull played wrongly?...
It was a bittersweet podium ceremony in Shanghai not only for Red Bull, but also the team's grand prix winner Sebastian Vettel. We have already reported that whoever was in charge of the post-race ceremony at the Shanghai International Circuit played the wrong national anthem to mark the Austrian energy drink-owned constructor's win. Instead of the Austrian song 'Land der Berge, Land am Strome' being played to honour owner Dietrich Mateschitz, the loudspeakers instead proclaimed 'God Save The Queen', presumably because while Red Bull races with an Austrian license, the team is based in Milton-Keynes. Bild newspaper, meanwhile, reports that 21-year-old German Vettel sustained a slight injury on the podium as he handled his winner's trophy. Photos show the Red Bull driver sucking the side of his thumb, and he revealed to the German publication: "When I was raising the cup, I cut myself, no big deal. "I put on a sticking plaster and still went to the party," he joked. Source: PaddockTalk

04.19: Bernie says Seb better than Lewis
christian horner also talks about him...
As Sebastian Vettel clocked up his second Grand Prix win, reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton openly admitted Shanghai had been one of his ‘worst performances’ in Formula One. It was therefore an opportune time for quotes attributed to Bernie Ecclestone to hit the British press, as he outlines his belief that the German is better than his British rival. "I think he is," the 78-year-old is quoted as saying by the Telegraph. "Lewis is super but I think this kid ... time will tell." Red Bull team boss Christian Horner didn't want to be drawn on the comparison, but he agrees that Vettel's rise is unlikely to flatten in the wake of his Chinese win. "It's difficult for me to say as Lewis doesn't sit in our car," Horner said. "But for sure, in coming years, Seb is going to be one of the dominant drivers in F1." While the British media currently questions its former affection for Hamilton amid the 'lie-gate' scandal, Sunday's spotlight fell squarely on Vettel, who names his cars. "My original car was called ‘Kate’. But then it got smashed at the opening race in Australia. So we called this one ‘Kate's Dirty Sister’ because it is more aggressive and faster," Vettel said. [RACE] "We will try to be the best team of the grid"
says sebastian after his win...
Sebastian Vettel said Red Bull had ambitions to become the best team in Formula 1 after steering them to their first ever Grand Prix victory in China. "We will try and stay on top and make the final step to be the best team on the grid," said 21-year-old Vettel. "I'm very happy the car is fast already... and hoping it gets better and better throughout the season." "In qualifying we did a good job but nevertheless we were struggling a bit with the reliability," Vettel said. "But we were able to fix it overnight. We found the problem and that speaks for the quality of our team and everybody was just trying to fix it. A double win for Red Bull is incredible and I am extremely happy." Source: BBC

04.19: "Winning the second race is fantastic"
said sebastian after his second victory...
Sebastian Vettel was a delighted man after clinching his second Formula 1 victory in the Chinese Grand Prix, the German giving Red Bull Racing its made victory. The 21-year-old, who last year became the youngest ever winner when he took victory at the Italian Grand Prix with Toro Rosso, dominated the wet race from pole position and crossed the finish line 10 seconds ahead of team-mate Mark Webber, who completed a 1-2 for the Milton Keynes team. Vettel praised his team following the overnight work to fix the problems that had hindered both him and Webber on Saturday. "I am extremely happy," admitted Vettel, now fourth in the championship standings. "Second time now I've won a grand prix in the wet. The car was fantastic, it is definitely necessary to mention team did a really, really good job in preparing the car. "We were struggling a bit with reliability, but we fixed it overnight. That speaks of the quality of our team, everybody was trying to fix it. Both cars finished the race. Having a double win for Red Bull is incredible." The German admitted the race, which took place entirely in the wet, had been very hard given the conditions. He also welcomed the decision to start behind the safety car. "I think first of all it was the right decision to start behind the safety car as there was a lot of standing water," said Vettel. "It was okay at some corners but every lap there would be aquaplaning, sometimes less sometimes more. "We knew we were on a short strategy so I had to push at the beginning to get away from the pack which we succeeded in doing. "It was very difficult race, a lot of aquaplaning, you were just catching cars, keeping it on circuit. I think I had best conditions as no cars were running in front of me the whole race so it was quite comfortable but still difficult with the aquaplaning, especially in the last corner." Vettel said he took it easy in the last part of the race, trying to avoid errors and bringing the car home. "With some 10 laps to the end I was always trying to observe the gap to car behind and trying to adapt to his pace. I was trying to have everything in control but it is extremely difficult. I tried to bring the car home. I tried to really be focused corner by corner and not looking too far ahead. "The last two laps I backed off, I didn't want to risk going off the track in the same way. Winning the second race, and having won here for Toro Rosso and Red Bull is fantastic." Source: Autosport.com

[QLF] FIA publishes car weights after qualifying
check the weights of cars for tomorrow...
Post-qualifying car weights: Sebastian Vettel: 644.0 kgFernando Alonso: 637.0 kg Mark Webber: 646.5 kg Rubens Barrichello: 661.0 kg Jenson Button: 659.0 kg Jarno Trulli: 664.5 kg Nico Rosberg: 650.5 kg Kimi Räikkönen: 673.5 kg Lewis Hamilton: 679.0 kg Sébastien Buemi: 673.0 kg The publication of the post-qualifying car weights of the 20-car grid has shown that second-placed qualifier Fernando Alonso will start the race with the lightest car, after putting in a stunning lap in his Renault this afternoon. The Spaniard will make his first pitstop approximately three laps before polesitter Sebastian Vettel, while Mark Webber is expected to come in a lap later than his team-mate. Rubens Barrichello did well to get ahead of team-mate Button on the timesheets with more fuel onboard, while Kimi Räikkönen, Lewis Hamilton and Sébastien Buemi all fueled their cars heavy for a long first stint in tomorrow's race. [QLF] "less I run in the morning, the better it is in qualifying!"
said an excited Sebastian Vettel after qualifying...
“I’m very, very happy - it’s unbelievable. It was a bit last minute! I only had one run in each qualifying session but, as you can see, you don’t need more! It wasn’t easy, we had a problem with the car and had to run as little as possible. The car was really quick though, Mark had two runs in each session and was always up there, so I didn’t have any concerns. Still, if you have only one lap, you can’t make any mistakes. I’m really happy – we made it to pole position in the end! This morning wasn’t ideal, but it seems the less I run in the morning, the better it is in qualifying! A big thanks to the mechanics, who have been working very, very hard, basically all night, and thanks to all the team back in Milton Keynes too. We made it! I’m looking forward to tomorrow, it’s a long race and there’s a long way to go, but we have the best starting position.”
