01.13: "RBR has a lot of potential and it is up to us to produce it"
told Seb to autosport.com
Sebastian Vettel says he is not worried about having to adapt to working with a new team in 2009 after moving to Red Bull Racing from Scuderia Toro Rosso.

The 21-year-old German enjoyed a strong relationship with STR team principal Franz Tost, technical director Giorgio Ascanelli and then-team co-owner Gerhard Berger at the Faenza-based outfit, but is enjoying the challenge of getting used to working with the staff at Red Bull Racing.

"I have to build new relationships with different people, but I'm not worried," Vettel told autosport.com. "There are many more people working here at Red Bull, and there a lot of people with great potential.

"It's still a young team and it will take time to meld together but I'm extremely confident.

"I felt very comfortable at Toro Rosso. We created something that was very unique and very special with Gerhard, Franz and Giorgio and we did the best we could.

"Red Bull is a new team for me. We may have the same parent company, but it's a completely different environment, atmosphere and philosophy. These things you need to get used to. Red Bull Racing has a lot of potential and it is up to us, as team and driver, to produce it."

The 2008 Italian Grand Prix winner is also confident that the upgrades Red Bull Racing engine suppliers Renault have been allowed to make to their V8 engine will help the team.

"The fact that Renault is allowed to do something to its engine will certainly be no disadvantage and will only help us.

"But to be honest the differences between the engines last year were quite limited. I don't think that just one thing will make a difference. F1 is all about details - it's about the whole car."

Vettel is due to return to testing action at Jerez next month after the new Red Bull RB5 is unveiled on February 9.

01.13: "Seb had a very good season last year"
says his new teammate...
Sebastian's new teammate, australian Mark Webber, has a column at BBC website, and in his latest article, he spoke a bit about Seb.

"I'm looking forward to having Sebastian as a team-mate. On paper, you would have to agree with those pundits who are saying he will be my toughest so far. He had a very good season last year. He had some very good weekends, particularly in the second half of the year - even if the first half was not so good for him.

At this level you want to be comparing yourself against good guys and he is one of the bright young guys in F1 and it's good that Red Bull have got him. Hopefully we can get an absolute truck-load of points for the team. If we end up pushing each other hard, well, that is how it always has been and how it always will be.

I am not worried about the time Sebastian has spent with the team over the winter while I have been recovering. I know that the momentum you build up starts from Melbourne onwards."

[EVENTS] RBR launches on Feb 9th
team annouced today...
Red Bull Racing will give its 2009 car its track debut at Jerez in Spain on Monday 9 February, the team has announced.

Several teams are planning to launch their new cars in mid-January, including McLaren, BMW, Renault and Williams – but with the '09 season starting later than usual, on March 29, Red Bull has opted to spend longer developing the RB5 at its Milton Keynes factory.

“Our strategic plan has always been to take full advantage of the later start to the 2009 season and we are using the time to ensure we have optimised the car as much as possible, within the regulation changes, to start on the grid in Melbourne,” explained team principal Christian Horner.

The February launch date should also limit the amount of track time missed by Mark Webber, who is recovering from a broken right leg and is not expected to be fit to drive for several weeks.

05.01: "I hope I will be making my own luck"
says seb about schumi help...
Sebastian Vettel insists he is happy to be moving up to Red Bull's senior team in 2009.

At the Ferrari-powered Toro Rosso outfit this year, the German youngster was arguably the find of the season, and he subsequently admitted that driving for the works Ferrari team would be a 'dream'. But in an interview with the Welt am Sonntag newspaper, the 21-year-old concedes that his promising career is nevertheless on the right track.

"It has always been my goal to one day drive for Ferrari," Vettel told the German newspaper, "but continuity is also really important and that's why I am with Red Bull."

A protégé of his countryman Michael Schumacher, however, Vettel does not attempt to hide his affection for Ferrari, with which the great German achieved five of his record seven world titles. Vettel said it is only possible to become world champion "if you sit in one of the best cars."

"And Ferrari knows how to build them. They will be right at the front all of the time, because their resources are on a completely different level to ours at Red Bull."

He answered 'I don't know' when asked if Schumacher will be recommending him to Ferrari decision-makers like Stefano Domenicali and Luca di Montezemolo. "But I hope I will be making my own luck," he said.

[HAPPY NEW YEAR!] To everyone out there...
...we wish you all the best for 2009!
We wanna wish you all and obviously Sebastian too a happy new year, even better than the fantastic year we had in 2008, full of joys, and efforts (anyone else would love a Monza replay? *laughs*)
Fact is that we appreciated a lot our first full year with you all, and hope we can make 2009 an even better year. We intend to bring you all some new stuff still during the offseason, like the new layout which is 80% ready (waiting for some good Seb shots for the top), a german version, and some improved content (like expanding the Illustrated Chronology from a F1 one, to one having all his career).

Thanks to all of you for the awesome year, the impressive number of visits growing each day, the many new friends we made, and obviously thanks Seb for all of this!

Many of you are already in the new year but some like me are still in 2008. Anyways, see you all then, and wish everyone a happy new year! :)
