[FPs] "Unfortunately we had a problem"
toro rosso press release...
Sebastian Vettel (STR3-03): "Last year we ran mainly in the wet, so it was good to have a dry day today. I think this is one of the most difficult circuits when it comes down to setting up the car. It is tricky because of the mix of a long straight, some high speed corners and then some difficult low speed winding corners. Unfortunately, this afternoon, we had a hydraulic problem which meant I didn't manage to do the long runs I wanted. But the car seems well balanced, which I was able to check at the very end of the session after the boys had worked very hard to get me out on track before the flag. I think we should be fine for qualifying, but for race set up I would have preferred more time to do some long runs. Tyre wise I think we are sorted though."

10.08: Vettel will be the next big star
said Frank Williams...
Lewis Hamilton's next big rival in the fight for world championships will be Sebastian Vettel, claims team boss Frank Williams.

With Vettel's talents shining through so well this season, and resulting in his and Scuderia Toro Rosso's maiden victory in Italy, Williams is convinced that the young German will go on to bigger things very soon.

"I think Vettel will win championships given the right team within two years - he is the new one," said Williams, whose team handed Vettel his first Formula One test at Jerez in September 2005 as a prize for winning German Formula BMW championship the year before.

"He will be challenging Lewis soon, although Lewis now has coming up for two seasons of experience. He (Vettel) looks outstanding for a 21-year-old though."

Williams says he is a bit taken aback that Vettel has ended up in the Red Bull family, however, having had such close ties with BMW.

"I have often asked myself that he started in Formula BMW and part of the reason (for that) is that Mario (Theissen)'s team can know all the young talent coming up. So I am surprised in some ways he has turned up at Red Bull."

10.05: 'He'll win the championship one day'
says Bernie Ecclestone...
Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone is convinced that Sebastian Vettel, who will move to the Red Bull team in 2009, will one day become the new F1 World Champion. Vettel won his first ever Grand Prix at Italy this season in a Scuderia Toro Rosso STR3 and this at the age of 21.

Ecclestone said: "After his win in Italy I'm sure of it: he will win the championship one day. Sebastian is young, smart and friendly so he is the ideal example for other young drivers who one day hope to join the F1 circus."

10.05: Half the grid 'chasing' Vettel
said Mateschitz to Salzburger Nachrichten...
Half the teams on the Formula One grid are 'chasing' Sebastian Vettel's services following his Italian Grand Prix victory last month.

That is according to Red Bull boss Dietrich Mateschitz, who will promote the 21-year-old German from Scuderia Toro Rosso to the Red Bull Racing team next season.

Vettel became Formula One's youngest ever polesitter and race winner at Monza, lies eighth in the championship, and has carried Toro Rosso ahead of Red Bull Racing in the constructors' standings.

Mateschitz says there has been a lot of interest in Vettel and accepts that Red Bull will have to produce a car capable of winning races in order to keep him on board in the long term.

"Half of the F1 grid is chasing him," Mateschitz told Austrian newspaper Salzburger Nachrichten. "But Sebastian does not have any thoughts of moving out of Red Bull, nor have I. He is part of our family.

"We would be disappointed if he would propose to leave. However, he has earned a right for one of the best cars in one of the best teams, so we are obliged to offer him this at Red Bull Racing next season."

Mateschitz added that he expects next year's Red Bull, the RBR5, to be able to fight at the front.

"Yes, (I think we can do that). It will be a completely new car and Adrian (Newey) is a guarantee that the probability of this being a top car is very high."
