08.15: "I should've been there before Seb"
says old F3 concurrent Di Resta...
Paul di Resta, a Scottish driver who currently races in Germany's DTM series, believes he deserves Sebastian Vettel's spot on the formula one grid.

At 22, di Resta is slightly older than Vettel, the highly-rated German driver who last year debuted for Toro Rosso and is already confirmed to move up to the senior team Red Bull in 2009.

Di Resta actually beat Vettel to the prestigious F3 Euroseries crown two years ago, but is now spending a second season in DTM, where this year he is driving for Mercedes-Benz's premier effort.

"I am not surprised Sebastian has been given an opening in F1, but he shouldn't have gotten there before me," he told the Scottish newspaper The Herald.

08.14: 'I'm sure Vettel will be WDC one day'
says bergher about his current driver...
Gerhard Berger predicts a shining formula one career for Sebastian Vettel.

Toro Rosso co-owner Berger, the winner of ten grands prix in the 80s and 90s, will lose the 21-year-old to senior team Red Bull in 2009.

But even though his Faenza based outfit must plot its future without Vettel, Austrian Berger is not short on praise for the German youngster.

"Quite simply, he is far above the level that he should be at for his level of experience," the 48-year-old told Sport Bild.

"There is nothing he cannot do even now. I am absolutely sure that Vettel will be world champion one day," Berger said.

08.09: "I don't see a new Vettel"
says gerhard on possible replacements...
Gerhard Bergher spoke about possible replacements for 2009 Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel in Toro Rosso team:

"Bruno Senna is good enough for Formula One, but the same applies also to Roman Grosjean and Sebastien Buemi," he told FORMULE 1 RaceReport.

"But so far, none of those three have totally convinced me. You could say that I don't yet see a new Vettel."

08.08: 'Seb doesn't have any real weaknesses'
says gerhard bergher...
Toro Rosso co-owner Gerhard Berger has praised Sebastian Vettel as a driver who 'doesn't have any real weaknesses'.

Having made his debut in Formula 1 last season with BMW before being drafted in to replace Scott Speed at Toro Rosso, Vettel has enjoyed a solid first full year in the sport this year having rebounded well from a nightmare start that saw him forced to retire from the first four races; with three of those retirements coming on the opening lap. Vettel has also outperformed team-mate Sebastien Bourdais during the season to date, with the Frenchman having failed to score since the season opener in Melbourne, and Berger said it was important for the Frenchman to start picking up results.

"Sebastian Vettel is a good guy and there isn't really anything that I would say is a weakness," he said. "He needs a bit more experience but the rest I would say is really great. It will hurt us that Vettel won't be with us next year."

[RACE] 'I had no choice but retire'
says sebastian on today's race...
Sebastian Vettel commented, "I didn't have a very good pit stop and that caused the engine to overheat and that messed up some parts and I had no choice but to retire. It's a shame as I had a good pace from the car this afternoon. I made a mistake in running wide at the last corner on the first lap and lost a lot of places. I was stuck behind Barrichello and it was impossible to overtake. This hasn't been a good weekend and that goes back to Friday when I suffered reliability problems and then came the disappointment this afternoon."
