HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SEBASTIAN!
please send us some cake!...
So. It's July 3rd, and it's a special day because our favorite driver has his birthday. We can't do much really, but I know this weekend each of the fans he has around the world will be sending him some positive vibes (not that we don't on other races, but this time much much much more!), so the British GP can be an special one.
It's his first birthday in F1 - in a regular seat, so ignoring the USA GP - and we know he's right where he wished to be in all his birthdays before this one. It's time for bigger wishes and we hope they'll come true as well.
It's been a long year, with ups and downs, but the more problems Sebastian has, the most he tries and we see it in his following results. We wish you the best luck, and the best results, as a result from all the talent you got, Seb (hope you may read this someday!).

Happy Birthday, and all the best!

07.01: "Vettel is doing a very good job"
says Franz Tost...
Scuderia Toro Rosso drivers Sebastian Vettel and Sebastien Bourdais do not have to worry about their position within the team according to team principal Franz Tost. Tost has said both Vettel and Bourdais have shown good results in the first half of the season.

Red Bull Racing's little brother, Scuderia Toro Rosso, is the Austrian's energy drink's team to guide talent to the top. It wouldn't come as a big surprise to see Sebastian Vettel at Red Bull Racing next season, but for now the Toro Rosso team hopes to keep both drivers until the end of the season at least as they are happy with the duo's performance.

"Vettel has pretty much jumped into Formula 1 after a very short racing career," said Franz Tost. "With the current very high level of performance from all the drivers on the grid, you can't just come into this category and show the others how to drive. A young driver needs three years until he understands what F1 is about, it's not just driving the car, he needs to understand the whole environment, the engineering, the marketing, the press and bring all these elements together to build up the complete picture to understand when to do what. On this level I am very happy with both our drivers. Vettel is doing a very good job because we can see his learning curve is increasing and he is getting better and better and I am convinced that in the next few races we will see the results of this."

[TESTS] Bourdais takes over for tomorrow
str test notes...
After yesterday’s 'difficult day' Toro Rosso's test programme was back on track today, allowing Sebastian Vettel to get to know the Silverstone circuit for the first time. Most of the workload was on development of STR3, rather than race preparation, so all the runs were completed with a normal fuel load and just one type of tyre. Items on the agenda included front and rear suspension work, brake evaluation and steering.

The only problem on the car involved replacing a damaged floor, while half an hour of rain and several red flags in the afternoon, also interrupted proceedings.

Vettel was fifth fastest of the ten present today in testing. Sebastien Bourdais takes over behind the wheel for tomorrow’s final day of the Silverstone test.

[RoC] Sebastian to go RoC again!
to defend his title with schumi once more...
The Wembley stadium in London will play host to the Race of Champions again after it played host to the successful 2008 edition. The Race of Champions will be organized in December again in the British stadium.

After being narrowly beaten by DTM Champion Mattias Ekström in last year's Race Of Champions final, seven-times Formula 1 World Champion Michael Schumacher has thrown down the gauntlet to past and present motorsport stars by having signed up to return and fight for the chance to be crowned 'The Champion of Champions'.

« The great thing about The Race of Champions is that whether you win or lose it's a lot of fun - all the drivers really enjoy themselves and, because they're so close to the action, the crowd love it too"", said Schumacher who, although missing out on the overall title, helped Germany to win The ROC Nations Cup with compatriot F1 racer Sebastian Vettel. The two racers will both return to defend their title in 2008.

[TESTS] Sebastian drives tomorrow
for a full day at silverstone...
Silverstone might be the home of an old airfield, but sadly Scuderia Toro Rosso weren’t flying anywhere today. A technical problem early in the day brought the team’s session to a premature end.

However, the STR3 should be repaired by tomorrow morning and the driver scheduling has now changed so that Sebastian Vettel will get a full day tomorrow on a circuit he does not know, while Sebastien Bourdais will take over in the cockpit for the final day on Thursday.

[RACE] "He cut the chicane completely"
says sebastian about lewis penalty...
Sebastian Vettel on Sunday indicated that he backs the decision to give Lewis Hamilton a controversial drive-through penalty during the French grand prix. The Toro Rosso driver was passed by Hamilton, who races for McLaren, at the Magny-Cours circuit, moments before Hamilton cut a chicane and triggered a stewards' investigation.

McLaren figures suggested that the penalty was not deserved, including Mercedes' Norbert Haug, who said: "I don't believe Sebastian Vettel will have complained. "He will probably come to me ... 'that was no disadvantage'," Haug added.

Vettel told reporters afterwards: "He had a better exit than me from the Adelaide hairpin.

"I was inside, to defend my position, and had the better line for curves six and seven. Lewis arrived with more speed; I went from the gas and braked and he kept going. For me it was clear that he was going to cut the chicane."

The 20-year-old German said Hamilton would not have been penalised had he immediately let him take back the position.

"He cut the chicane completely. I had a similar situation at the Monaco chicane, when I was too late on the brakes. I overtook two cars but I let them go again and so the issue was settled. If someone stays out in front, there is a penalty. I think he should have let me past again because he had a better car and could have passed me again."
