[RUMOUR] Sebastian to RBR 'possible'
says christian horner about the move...
A recurring rumour on the verge of the French grand prix at the weekend was that Sebastian Vettel's deal to move to Red Bull Racing in 2009 is now all but guaranteed. Even the Milton-Keynes based team's boss, Christian Horner, is warming to the media's regular attempts for signs of confirmation.

German magazine Auto Motor und Sport quotes the Briton as saying switching Vettel, 20, from junior team Toro Rosso to the 'A' squad is a "possibility".

Horner added that Vettel is doing "a very good job" this season, amid suggestions that veteran David Coulthard would be the current Red Bull driver displaced by the young German's graduation. "We always try to have the best possible driver pairing," Horner said.

He also ruled out suggestions that Vettel might tire of the Red Bull stable if he is not given the nod to move to the premier team in 2009. "He would not be in the position (to do that)," Horner said. "He has a long term relationship with Red Bull."

[RACE] "We can be proud of ourselves"
says a happy sebastian after race...
Sebastian Vettel - 12th: "I think we can be proud of ourselves because we had a very strong race. We started and finished P12, but we were in a part of the pack that included McLaren and BMW. I think we did a fantastic job of keeping ahead of one BMW simply because we had a better pace.

"We were not so lucky in terms of traffic and I would have liked the rain to come and help us a bit in the last fifteen laps but unfortunately it only arrived fifteen minutes after the finish! Overall, we can be happy. It was not an easy race and I had a lot of graining which made life harder. Definitely a step forward in performance terms compared to the last couple of races."

06.22: STR ponders life without Vettel
would sebastian replace david for next season?...
Gerhard Berger admits he is likely to look within Red Bull's own stable of young drivers should Toro Rosso need to replace Sebastian Vettel at the end of 2008. Intense speculation in the Magny-Cours paddock suggests that the energy drink outfit's A-team, Red Bull Racing, has already decided to replace David Coulthard with Vettel for next season. Berger, Toro Rosso's co-owner, played down the Vettel rumours.

"I know his contractual situation of course but there is no hurry," the Austrian told sportnet.at. "More, I cannot say right now."

Should Vettel graduate to Red Bull, Berger was asked where he might start looking for his replacement.

"At first we would always look within Red Bull to see if anyone is there," he said, but he denied that he has someone already in mind. "No. Currently there is no-one ready for Formula One," Berger said.

[QLF] "We can be happy to have both in Q2"
says sebastian about his amazing qualifying...
Sebastian Vettel: "That was very close and I think we can be happy to have both cars in Q2. I came very near to making Q3 and although I can't say I'm angry, when you get so close it is disappointing not to have done it. My laps were not perfect but they were pretty good. We struggled mainly in the second sector and were unable to improve on that. Overall, we can be happy with the way the car has run with its new package for the first time and I was quite surprised with its pace since the start of the weekend."

06.20: "I am very happy with the work we did today"
STR magny-cours notes...
Sebastian Vettel
“I am very happy with the work we did today. I had a good pace since the beginning of the morning session and we made changes that seemed to improve the car. Fifth looks very good, but you never know what fuel loads the others were running, but it’s better than being twentieth! The new aero package is a good step forward and should show its value on this track with lots of fast corners and quick changes of direction.”
