05.31: Too early for Seb to go RBR
says berger to german magazine...
David Coulthard has been given a vote of confidence by two former grand prix stars, following what by the Scot's own admission has been a ‘shocking' start to the 2008 campaign.

Rumous have been intensifying in recent weeks that Bourdais' team-mate Sebastian Vettel is as good as a shoe-in to replace Coulthard – practically the young German's polar opposite as the oldest driver in the field – in 2009, if not sooner.

STR co-owner Gerhard Berger and Coulthard's manager and ITV-F1 commentator Martin Brundle, however, have both moved to dismiss such suggestions.

“For Sebastian, the step would be much too early,” ten-time grand prix winner Berger told German magazine Auto Motor und Sport when asked about the man who finished an impressive fifth in Monte Carlo.

05.27: "It was extremely difficult"
sebastian tells autosport about monaco...
Sebastian Vettel thinks it will take another two races to gauge how much of a step forward Scuderia Toro Rosso can expect with their new car, despite his point-scoring finish in Monaco.

"I was very pleased with the pace in Monaco," Vettel told autosport.com. "It was the first time with the new car, and I think we managed better and better with it.

"The race was very chaotic, so it was hard to judge the car's performance. So we will see this more in the next race, and at Magny-Cours, which is the next proper circuit."

Vettel said the key to his points-scoring finish in Monaco was simply staying out of trouble on a day that many of his rivals hit each other or hit the barriers.

"It was extremely difficult," he said. "The conditions were really tough, but it's a good result for us. It was all about staying on the circuit and not making any mistakes."

[RACE] 'A big thank you to the team'
says sebastian after scoring his first points...
Sebastian Vettel : “The race today was extremely difficult, especially at the start when with all the water on the track surface there was a lot of aquaplaning. But we were very strong as the track began to dry and that’s what made the difference."

"It’s great to score my first points of the season at Monaco and with the new car as well. A big thank you to the team, who worked so hard to understand the car and improve it over the weekend. And a special thanks for the pit stop which was fantastic and gained me two places. These points are a nice present for one of our mechanics, Gaggio, who has been with the team for ever and we will have a nice party for him tonight with something to celebrate as this is his last race with the team.”
