A list of curiosities about Vettel.
01. In 2006, Sebastian set a new record when he received the fastest fine in Formula One history - after just nine seconds. On his first outing in practice at the Turkish GP, he forgot to press the speed limiter button and was clocked driving at 64 kph in the pit lane, resulting in a fine of $1000. He is therefore also the youngest driver to ever receive a fine in an F1 car.
02. Sebastian impressed everyone on his testing début in 2006 by setting the fastest time in the second Friday Free Practice session during the 2006 Turkish Grand Prix. He also impressed during his second testing session in the 2006 Italian GP after setting the fastest time in both Friday practice sessions.
03. In 2006, Sebastian had an accident in the World Series by Renault at Spa-Francorchamps that saw his finger almost sliced completely off by flying debris. He was expected to be out of racing for several weeks, but surprised everyone by competing at Zandvoort the following weekend, finishing in sixth place.
04. By running in Friday practice for the 2006 Turkish Grand Prix, he became the youngest ever F1 driver to drive at a GP meeting, at 19 years and 53 days.
05. Sebastian’s father was a hill-climb racer who also competed in karting events.
06. Within his heros, Sebi has named Roger Federer and Michael Schumacher.
07. Sebastian is afraid of mice.
08. In 2004, Sebastian took a ride as a passenger in a Red Bull aerobatic plane in Budapest.
09. Sebi sold some karting gears on eBay when he was younger, to raise money.
10. He's got a 2,8 in his Abitur (German exam that you have to do after finishing high school).
11. Sebastian is a supersticious guy. He once said in an interview he's have to find another way if a black cat crossed the street in front of him.
12. Sebastian once said, "My sister Stephanie, who is four years older than me, was also karting back in 1993 and ’94, while the other sister was more interested in horses. Then Stephanie stopped because I was driving so much and I always wanted to drive and didn’t want her to drive!"
13. Sebi was already caught speeding on his way from Germany to Switzerland.
14. He likes to watch a BBC show called 'Little Britain', especially 'Lou and Andy' sketch, and uses the word 'kerfuffle' over the team radio.
15. In 2005, Sebastian had to leave an awards ceremony early, as soon as he got his award, because he had an important exam in school in the next morning.
16. Sebastian told the Red Bulletin that when he was born, he was almost named Ryan. Also, if he were a girl, his name would end with -ie, like his older sisters, Stephanie and Melanie. His younger brother's name followed his -ian, and that's Fabian.
17. Seb has no manager. He thinks he still didn't find the right person for the job and doesn't wanna hire someone before he's 100% sure he can trust him.
18. He used to run with slick tires while he was karting. That definately helped him improving his performance on the wet.
19. Seb says, "When I was a small kid I took a trophy to school with me. The others broke it. Since then I only talk about my sport if I'm asked."
20. At the age of three, Seb got his first kart, and couldn't stop driving it for hours on his house's yard. That also made him miss lunch time many times.
21. According to the german newspaper Welt (january 2008), Sebastian earns one an a half million of dollar per year.
22. Sebastian moved to Zürich in 2007, to Walchwil at Lake Zug. He's a fan of the local "EVZ" ice hockey team and really enjoys it to see them live whenever possible.
23. While he was in F.BMW, Sebastian used to leave the family motorhome exactly four hours before each race, to jog around the track, amking his blood circulate.
24. Sebastian still brings in his pocket a Glückschwein mit Pfenne (Lucky Pig with a coin), that his father bought him in the road after he had an accident in kart. He won the next race after he got it, and never stopped taking him along after that.
25. According to Seb's father, his first seasons in karts costed the family around 7000 Marks each.
26. Sebastian became a good friend of finnish Kimi Räikkönen after taking a ride on his private jet in a work trip. Since then they've been playing badminton together.
27. First call Sebastian recieved after his first F1 win was his Grandpa's.
28. The german TV show Wetten, dass...? featuring Sebastian in October 2008 got over 11,08 millions of viewers live.
29. Seb gives girls names to his cars. 2008's car was named Julie, whereas the 2009 one is named Kate.
30. Generally the team keeps the trophee of wins, and gives a replica to the driver, but Toro Rosso let Sebastian keep the original trophee of his first win.
31. Sebastian took home the outfit he wore in his win in Shanghai, so he could remember it later.
32. Since his debut in Formula One Sebastian carries in his pocket a one cent coin during race weekends, that he found on the streets during the 2007 USA Grand Prix.
